5 Top Tips on Branding Your Business Vehicle

Clear and informative advertising and marketing strategies are key ingredients in creating a successful business. Advertising can be used in many forms, from billboards, radio and TV ads, to partnerships with social influencers. One of the easiest, cheapest and most commonly overlooked forms of advertising is through the branding of your work vehicle. Branding your car or van allows you to gain brand awareness, build customer trust through the appearance of a well established company, and increases your social authority for a relatively small price.

The best part of all, is that you’ll attract interest to your business when you’re on the road by simply going about your daily activities as usual.

If you’re considering branding your vehicle, and aren’t sure what to include or where to get started, here are some simple top tips on designing the aesthetic and message for your advertisement.

Decide on your goals

Think about what you are trying to achieve with your advertisement. Are you looking to garner interest? Do you want to promote a call to action? Are you just trying to improve the professionality of your website? Each goal will have an impact on the graphics and content you include on your vehicle, as well as whether you use contact details, promote your website, or just simply wrap your car in your business colours to increase continuity.

Consider your target audience

Your target audience will dictate the type of media that you use for your branding. Brighter, bolder colours are best for younger audiences, where as you might want something a bit more refined for an older market. You should also consider your target market when designing your graphics, fonts and other aesthetic aspects of your business vehicle.

Choose your content

Once you’ve considered who your audience are, and what your goals for advertisement are, you can decide on the content you want to include. This could simply be your company name, but if you are aiming to generate more business and draw customers in to contact you, then you could add in extra aspects such as your phone number, email and website address.

Decide on your materials

There are lots of different options for materials to brand your car. This could be something you add onto your vehicle, such as a magnetic car sign – which is perfect if your business vehicle is also your personal vehicle, as it can be easily removed. Alternatively, you might consider vinyl graphics, or a custom vehicle wrap. Private plates are one to consider in order to provide with lettering relevant to your company. Which materials you decide to use will depend on your budget and chosen aesthetic; for example, a custom wrap is more expensive than magnetic signs, but often has a sleeker, more professional finish.

Keep it simple

No matter which design elements you decide upon, the most important thing you can do for your vehicle branding is to keep it simple. Don’t forget that people will be viewing your advertisement in passing, which means the writing needs to be easily legible and the graphics need to be as memorable as possible.
