Cloud computing has really taken off. In the last eight years, the market has grown from around $20 billion dollars to a staggering $120 billion, and it’s still growing. By 2020, it will be $200 billion according to the boys and girls over at Goldman Sachs. But why?
It’s mainly being driven by the reduction in cost and improved usability of IT systems it offers. Companies no longer have to maintain their own in-house IT systems. Instead, they can just pay a monthly fee to a third party company, and they’ll manage the problem for them.
Cloud computing allows your employees to do things that they would not have been able to do in the past. They can collaborate in real time. They can access work on the go. And they can have their work schedules updated electronically, reducing the need for paperwork and phone calls.
Not to mention the fact that cloud computing frees you up from managing your own IT systems so you can just get on with what you’re good at.

Outsourcing IT is another option for you that’s along somewhat similar lines. Again, you’re solving the problem by eviscerating it entirely from your business. But again, outsourcing provides some pretty compelling advantages over traditional in-house services.
For one, an external IT service can effectively consolidate your systems onto a set of secured servers. They can then manage who has access and who does not have access to those servers. Thus, they secure your data and ensure that you don’t have to spend time and energy working on your own in-house system.
And they can often offer remote support, meaning that if something does go awry during an upgrade, they’re right there to help out.
