Is Small Town Living The Best Financial Decision You Can Make?

There’s a lot to be said for urban areas. It’s where nearly all the concerts, theatre shows, festivals, and other events take place, and if you like to be immersed in the deep end of life, then there’s nowhere else that compares. However, let’s not pretend that there aren’t some pretty significant drawbacks to this kind of living, including the amount of money you need to spend just to have the privilege of living there. If you’re looking for a place that makes financial sense and also offers a lot of life benefits, then you won’t find it in the cities. You’ll find it in small towns.

More Bang For Your Buck

For a start, let’s just think about the obvious financial benefit: in small towns, you can get more bang for your buck. In big cities, you’re competing for housing, cultural events, and the like with people who earn some serious dollar. In small towns, the competition is less fierce, and as such prices have to stay at a level that everyone can afford. Whether it’s gasoline, family outings, or anything else, you’ll find you’re spending less money than you would in a city.

Opportunities Abound

People tend to flock to cities because they think it’s what they should do. But really, if they thought about it a little bit more, they’d find that there might be even more opportunities for them in small towns. Click here, and you’ll see that there’s plenty of great options for people who enjoy small town living; similarly, sized homes would be too costly if they were in the popular cities across the country. As well as more affordable housing, there are also a lot of employment opportunities in small towns. Not as many as cities, for sure, but then there are also fewer people.

Simple Pleasures

If you live in a city then there’s no getting around it: if you want to have fun, then you’ll need to spend big money going to a swanky bar or paying through the roof to get tickets to the best events that are happening. In small towns, you don’t have the same problem. There, it’s all about the simple pleasures; walks in nature, summer evening BBQs, and so on, none of which cost much – if any – money.

Less Temptation

And to put it bluntly, when you don’t have as many options as the big cities, there is simply less temptation to spend your hard-earned cash. There’ll be less swanky shops showing off their expensive clothing, so you won’t feel like you need to buy, and the number of restaurants and bars will be reduced. Some people like to have options, but think about how this affects your bank balance!

Out of the Rat Race

Small town living isn’t for everyone, but it does have undeniable benefits. Could you see yourself living this way? If you can, you’ll soon find that you have more money in your back pocket – and you’ll be out of the rat race, too.
