Moving Premises? Here Are 4 Things You’ll Need

Moving To a New Office

So you’ve outgrown that old office block and now you’re ready to move into new premises, huh?! Well, great! It’s very exciting to be able to move into somewhere better than before, and there are lots of options at your disposal. A good move doesn’t have to waste too much time or halt your business operations. If you want everything to go smoothly, there are a few things that you’re going to have to pay attention to. We’re going to mention just four of these today, but be aware that this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Extensive Planning

I shouldn’t have to tell you that extensive planning is essential if you’re going to be moving premises. There are numerous reasons why you’ll need to do this but here’s the main one: your day-to-day operations won’t be compromised. If you can plan effectively, you shouldn’t have to spend any time away from important operations. Think about the crucial aspects of your business and how you can keep them running in the meantime.

You’re also going to have to consider the space you’re moving into. What do you need out of these new offices? You’re probably going to want a Data Centre Design to house all your servers and IT equipment. You might need a reception area, private meeting offices, and whatever else your company requires. Think about whether you need to build and extend, or simply just delegate each room for a particular task.

Additional Help

You’re going to need assistance when moving, especially if it’s a long way away. You’ll have a lot of equipment to transport, and you might need to enlist outside help to ensure it’s all done quickly. Find a company that can pack your equipment into a van and move it across while you take care of the business side of things. Don’t be afraid to ask your employees for help either. If you’ve got a good working relationship with them, you’ll often find that they’ll be happy to assist.

New Equipment

Moving offices comes with a chance to look at your existing equipment and make some changes. You’ll find things in the corner of your old building that you’d forgotten you had. Get rid of it and start afresh. Having a nice, fancy new office is great, but it can look dull with old equipment in there. I’m not saying you should start again, but take this opportunity to consider whether it’s worth adding to your arsenal.

Common Sense

Moving offices requires a basic amount of common sense. You don’t want to be moving those servers across as your first task because your old building won’t have any internet access anymore. Be sensible. Move the least crucial items over first, and get your employees working in the new offices to some degree. Then, you can deal with the most important stuff and limit your downtime. It’s amazing how many people don’t consider the basics when moving.

Eventually, everything goes back to our first point: great planning. If you can implement that, your move will go as smoothly as you’d hoped.
